Overnight store resets
A reset that runs into opening hours costs sales. We plan the night backwards from opening time, bring enough hands to finish, and leave the store ready to trade.

A new store by morning.
A reset that is still going at 10:00 costs sales and goodwill. We plan every reset backwards from opening time.
A store reset is when the floor changes: fixtures move to a new layout, tables are rebuilt for a new campaign, walls are re-merchandised and the windows change at the same time. It is one of the most stressful nights in retail, because the store has to close as one store and open as another, without anyone noticing the work in between.
RetailOps Denmark runs overnight resets and campaign changeovers for retail brands across Denmark. We bring a crew big enough to finish in the time available, follow your planogram and floor plan, and leave the store clean and ready to trade.
We do this for single stores and for brands rolling a new concept out across several Danish stores, and we work alongside store staff and your own visual merchandisers when they are on site.
What a reset can include.
A reset can be small, a few tables and one wall, or a complete change of the sales floor. Typical tasks are:
- Floor plan moves. Fixtures, gondolas, tables and rails moved to the new layout and levelled in place.
- Campaign changeover. Windows, tables, wall bays and hanging graphics changed from one campaign to the next.
- Fixture swaps. Old fixtures dismantled and taken out, new fixtures assembled and installed.
- Stock handling. Stock moved off fixtures, protected and put back to the planogram, or handed to your staff to merchandise.
- Signage and graphics. In-store graphics, hanging signs and price communication changed.
- Clean-down. Floors, fixtures and glass cleaned, packaging and waste removed before opening.
- Photo sign-off. Photos of every zone sent to your project manager before opening.
How a reset runs.
- Walk-through. Before the night, we go through the floor plan with you and agree the order of work, so heavy moves happen first and merchandising happens last.
- Crew planning. We decide how many people are needed to finish with a buffer, and write the crew size into the quote.
- Close and protect. At closing, stock is protected or cleared, the floor is protected where heavy items will move, and the crew starts on the first zone.
- Zone by zone. The store is reset one zone at a time, so if the night is shorter than planned, finished zones can already trade.
- Merchandising. Product goes back to the planogram, by our crew or by your staff, as agreed.
- Clean and check. The crew lead checks every zone against the plan, the store is cleaned, and photos go to your project manager.
- Handover. The store is handed back to the opening manager, with a short note of anything that needs a decision.
What we need from you.
- The new floor plan and planograms, and the current layout if it differs from the drawings
- A list of fixtures that move, come in or go out
- Opening and closing times, and when we can start
- Who is on site: store manager, your VM team, night security
- Delivery details for new fixtures and campaign materials
- What happens to fixtures and materials that are removed
- Building rules: loading bays, lifts, alarm and access codes
Most resets are planned two to four weeks ahead. If yours is sooner, send what you have and we tell you what is possible.
One plan, one team on the night.
Many brands want their own visual merchandisers or store staff on site during a reset. That works well when everyone knows who does what.
Before the night, we split the work with you: our crew does the heavy moves, assembly and installation, your people handle product and final styling, or our crew does it all. The split is written in the quote, so nobody stands around waiting and nobody does the same task twice.
New concepts across Denmark.
When a brand launches a new store concept, the same reset often has to happen in several stores within a few weeks. We plan the stores as a programme: the same crew lead, the same checklist and the same photo report in every store, so the concept looks the same in Copenhagen and in Aarhus.
The first store is often used as the pilot. We note what took longer than planned and what the drawings missed, and we use it to make the next stores faster.
Heavy moves, done properly.
Moving fixtures in a store full of stock is where damage happens if a crew is rushed. We use trolleys, floor protection and enough people for every lift, and we never move a loaded fixture.
We are insured with If Skadeforsikring. If anything is damaged during the night, we record it with photos, tell your contact before opening and handle it with our insurer.
What goes wrong in resets, and how we prevent it.
Most problems in a reset are predictable. We plan for them before the night instead of discovering them at 03:00.
- The drawings do not match the store. Columns, sockets and doors are not always where the plan shows them. We check the plan against photos or a visit before the night and agree changes with your VM team in advance.
- Fixtures arrive late or incomplete. We check deliveries in our warehouse before the night, so a missing part is found days ahead, not on site.
- Too few hands. A reset that needs six people cannot be done by three working faster. We size the crew to the plan and write it in the quote.
- Stock in the way. Moving loaded fixtures damages both fixtures and product. We agree who clears stock, and when, before the night.
- No decision-maker on the night. When something needs a decision, someone must answer the phone. We agree in advance who that is, and what the crew lead can decide alone.
Typical resets.
Floor change for a new season
A womenswear store moves twelve mid-floor fixtures to a new layout and changes all tables to the new season. A crew of five starts at 19:00, finishes the heavy moves by midnight, and the store team merchandises product from 06:00. The store opens on time with a new floor.
New concept in an existing store
A brand rolls out a new fixture concept. Old wall bays are dismantled, new ones installed and the old fixtures taken to storage. Because the work is too large for one night, we split it over three nights and leave each finished zone ready to trade every morning.
Department store concession
A concession inside a department store is reset for a new campaign. We follow the store's rules for access and noise, work between closing and the night cleaners, and hand back the area before the morning delivery window.
How a reset is planned.
- Three to four weeks before. You send the floor plan, planograms and dates. We send questions and a draft quote.
- Two weeks before. The quote is confirmed, the crew size fixed and deliveries of new fixtures agreed.
- One week before. We confirm access, alarm, contacts and parking with the store, and check that all deliveries are on track.
- The day before. Final call with the store manager and your project manager. Any changes to the plan are agreed in writing.
- The night. The reset, zone by zone, with a short update to your project manager at agreed times if you want it.
- The morning after. Photos of every zone, a snag list if needed, and a short call if anything needs a decision.
Why brands choose us for resets.
There are larger contractors in Denmark, and there are cheaper ones. Brands and agencies choose RetailOps Denmark for resets because of how the work is run:
- Our own crew. The people on your job work for us, not for a subcontractor we found the day before.
- Our own vans and warehouse. Kits, fixtures and materials can be received, stored and delivered by us, from Albertslund, so nothing depends on a third party on the night.
- Written scope. Every job has a written quote with the scope, the crew size and the time window. What is in the quote is what happens on site.
- English on site. Your project manager can talk to the crew lead directly in English, at any hour of the night.
- Photos as proof. Every job ends with photos, so you can sign off without travelling to Denmark.
- One company behind it. RetailOps Denmark is a business unit of Get It All Service ApS, CVR 36730595, with an office and warehouse in Albertslund and insurance with If Skadeforsikring.
What decides the price.
- The size of the store and how many zones change
- How many fixtures move, come in or go out
- Whether our crew handles stock and merchandising or your staff does
- The time window: a full night, a short evening, or several nights
- The number of stores in the programme
- Disposal or storage of removed fixtures
You get a fixed written quote with the crew size, the working time and a job reference, normally within one working day.
Frequently asked questions.
How many people do you send to a reset?
As many as the plan needs to finish before opening, with a buffer. The crew size is written in your quote.
Can store staff work alongside your crew?
Yes. We split the tasks with your team before the night, and write the split into the quote.
What if the reset cannot be finished before opening?
We plan zone by zone, so finished areas can trade. If something outside our scope stops the work, we call your contact at once.
Do you move fixtures with stock on them?
No. Stock is taken off first, by our crew or yours, so fixtures and products are not damaged.
Can you take old fixtures away?
Yes. We dismantle and remove them, and take them to storage, back to you, or to recycling.
Do you do resets in several stores?
Yes. We plan them as one programme with the same crew lead and checklist in every store.
Can we see the result before opening?
Yes. Photos of every zone go to your project manager before the store opens.
How far ahead should we book?
Two to four weeks is normal. Shorter notice is often possible, so send the date with your request.
Need this every day, week or month?
Overnight store resets can run as a regular service: on a fixed day, after every delivery, every campaign or on call. Same crew, fixed prices, one monthly invoice.
