RETAILOPSDENMARK

Retail flooring

The floor is the largest surface in a store, and the one customers notice when it is worn. We remove old floors, prepare the subfloor and lay new wood, vinyl or carpet, outside opening hours, so the store trades on a new floor the next morning.

Retail flooring
Overview

A new floor without closing the store.

Customers walk on it all day and look at it more than you think. A worn floor makes a premium store look tired.

The floor is the largest surface in any store. It takes trolleys, deliveries, wet shoes and thousands of customers every week, and it is usually the first thing to look worn when the fixtures and walls still look new. In flagship stores, the floor is also part of the brand: a specific oak, a polished concrete look, a carpet in the brand colour.

RetailOps Denmark lays, replaces and repairs retail floors across Denmark: wood, laminate, vinyl, LVT and carpet. We work in zones, outside opening hours, so a store can get a completely new floor without closing for a single day. We also lay floors in new stores, pop-ups and shop-in-shops as part of the full fit-out.

Scope

What we do with floors.

  • Removal of the old floor. Carpet, vinyl, laminate or wood taken up, glue and residue removed, waste sorted for recycling.
  • Subfloor preparation. Levelling compound, repairs and moisture checks, so the new floor lies flat and lasts.
  • Wood and laminate. Floating and glued wood floors, parquet and laminate, laid to the pattern your designer specified.
  • Vinyl and LVT. Sheet vinyl and luxury vinyl tiles, glued or click, ideal for busy stores and back-of-house.
  • Carpet. Wall-to-wall carpet and carpet tiles, including fitting rooms and brand zones.
  • Skirting and transitions. Skirting boards, transition strips and edge profiles finished cleanly.
  • Repairs. Worn walkways, damaged boards, lifted tiles and burns replaced without redoing the whole floor.
  • Finishing wood floors. Sanding, oiling or lacquering existing wood floors to bring them back.
How we work

From survey to the first customer.

  1. Survey. We measure the floor and check the subfloor, either on site or from your drawings and photos.
  2. Plan by zone. We split the store into zones that can each be finished in one night, so the store can trade every day.
  3. Materials. The flooring your designer specified is ordered and delivered to our warehouse, where we check it and acclimatise wood as needed.
  4. Night by night. Each night, one zone is cleared, the old floor removed, the subfloor prepared and the new floor laid, with fixtures moved and put back.
  5. Finish and clean. Skirting and transitions fitted, the floor cleaned and the zone handed back before opening.
  6. Photo report. Photos of each finished zone go to your project manager the same morning.
What we need

Information for a flooring quote.

  • The floor plan with the areas to be laid, in m²
  • The flooring product and pattern your designer has specified, or the look you want
  • What is on the floor today, and photos of its condition
  • Opening hours and the nights we can work
  • Whether fixtures must be moved, and who handles stock
  • Building rules on noise, dust and waste

If you do not have a specification yet, tell us how the floor is used and the look you want, and we suggest products that suit a busy retail floor.

Choosing a floor

What works in a busy store.

Wood

Warm and premium, and the choice for many fashion and lifestyle brands. Needs care in entrances and walkways, and benefits from a hard-wearing lacquer in busy stores.

Vinyl and LVT

Very hard-wearing, easy to clean and available in convincing wood and stone looks. A strong choice for high-traffic stores and back-of-house.

Carpet

Soft, quiet and brand-coloured, often used in fitting rooms, lounges and premium zones. Carpet tiles make worn areas easy to replace later.

We lay what your designer specifies. When the choice is open, we give you a straight recommendation based on how the floor will be used.

Examples

Typical flooring jobs.

Worn entrance and walkway

The main walkway in a fashion store is worn through, while the rest of the floor is fine. We replace the walkway over two nights, matching the existing floor, and the store never closes.

New concept floor

A brand rolls out a new store concept with a new oak floor. We take up the old vinyl, level the subfloor and lay the new floor zone by zone over five nights, moving fixtures and stock as we go.

Pop-up floor

A pop-up needs a temporary floor that looks permanent for six weeks. We lay a click floor on top of the existing surface and take it up again at the end, leaving the original floor untouched.

Safety

Dust, glue and fumes under control.

Flooring work creates dust and, with some adhesives, smell. We use dust extraction, low-emission adhesives where the specification allows, and plan drying and airing time before the store opens.

We protect fixtures, stock and walls, keep walkways clear and are insured with If Skadeforsikring.

  • Photo report. Head office sees each finished zone the same morning.
