Derig, dismantling and disposal

When a campaign ends, a store closes or a concession moves, we take everything down carefully, pack what goes back, and take the rest to the right recycling station.

Derig, dismantling and disposal
Overview

Taking things down is a job in itself.

The end of a campaign is the start of the next one. A clean, fast derig is what makes the new install possible.

Every campaign, pop-up and shop-in-shop ends with something that has to come down: window structures, wall graphics, display furniture, branded fixtures, sometimes a complete store. It is easy to treat that as an afterthought, and that is exactly when things get damaged, lost or left behind in a store that needs to trade the next morning.

RetailOps Denmark derigs, dismantles and removes retail installations across Denmark. We take things down carefully, pack what should go back, store what should be kept, and sort the rest for recycling. The store is left clean, with photos to prove it.

We handle derigs for brands, for shopfitters and agencies that built the original installation, and for landlords and centres that need a unit cleared before handover.

Scope

What a derig can include.

  • Campaign derig. Window structures, hanging systems, graphics and props taken down after a campaign.
  • Fixture dismantling. Wall systems, gondolas, tables and counters dismantled into transportable parts.
  • Shop-in-shop and concession removal. Branded areas in department stores and centres removed and the floor space handed back.
  • Packing for return. Elements wrapped, boxed, labelled and palletised for your carrier.
  • Storage. Elements kept in our warehouse in Albertslund for the next campaign or the next store.
  • Disposal and recycling. Waste sorted and taken to approved recycling stations, with receipts if you need them.
  • Making good. Fixing holes filled, adhesive residue removed and the area cleaned.
  • Photo report. Photos of the empty, clean space before we leave.
How we work

From the first screw to the empty floor.

  1. Survey or photos. We look at what has to come down, on site or from your photos and drawings.
  2. Plan for each element. Together with you, we decide what is returned, what is stored and what is recycled. The list goes into the quote.
  3. Protection. Floors, walls and the products around the work area are protected.
  4. Derig. Elements are taken down in a safe order, starting with anything above head height.
  5. Packing and labelling. Everything that is kept is wrapped and labelled to your list.
  6. Transport. Our own vans take elements to our warehouse, to recycling, or to your carrier's pick-up point.
  7. Clean and photos. The area is cleaned and photographed, and the photos go to your project manager.
Return shipping

Packed for the trip home.

A lot of retail installations are owned by the brand or the shopfitter and must go back to a warehouse abroad after the campaign. That only works if they are packed so they arrive in one piece and can be identified when they arrive.

We pack and label to your instructions, build pallets where needed, and prepare the goods for your carrier. If you do not have a carrier, our sister company Get It All Service can arrange the transport. You receive photos of the packed goods and the pallet labels before they leave.

Disposal

Recycled, not dumped.

What is not kept is sorted and taken to approved recycling stations: wood, metal, cardboard, plastic, glass and electronics separately. If your company reports on waste and recycling, tell us when you book, and we keep the receipts for you.

Wherever possible, usable materials go to reuse instead of waste.

Store closures

Clearing a unit for handover.

When a store closes or a concession moves, the space usually has to be handed back to the landlord empty and clean by a fixed date. We plan the clear-out backwards from that date, including the time needed to take away fixtures, repair fixing holes and clean.

If your lease requires the space to be returned in a specific condition, send us the relevant part of the lease or the landlord's checklist, and we quote against it.

Safety

Careful in a busy building.

Derigs often happen in stores and centres that are open the next morning. We protect the area, keep walkways clear and never leave tools or loose parts behind.

We are insured with If Skadeforsikring, and we report any damage at once, with photos.

What we need

Information for a smooth derig.

  • Photos or drawings of everything that comes down
  • A list of what is returned, stored or recycled, with your part numbers if you have them
  • The date and time window, and whether the store is trading the next day
  • Return shipping details: carrier, pick-up date and delivery address
  • Building rules: loading bay times, lifts, waste rooms and security
  • The landlord's handover requirements, if the space is being returned

If you only have photos, that is enough to start. We confirm the rest with you before the quote.

Reuse

Keep, store or recycle.

Many campaign elements and fixtures are used only once, even though they could be used again. Before a derig, it is worth asking which parts have a second life: in another store, in the next campaign, or in a different market.

Our warehouse in Albertslund can hold elements between campaigns, so you do not have to decide on the night. We store them labelled and photographed, and send you a list of what we hold. When you need them, we bring them to the store or prepare them for shipping.

What cannot be reused is recycled by material. Wood, metal and cardboard make up most retail waste, and almost all of it can be recycled when it is sorted properly.

Examples

Typical derigs.

End of a window campaign

A campaign structure has to come out of a flagship window the night before the next campaign goes in. We derig it, wrap the elements, label them by the brand's part numbers and palletise them for the brand's carrier. The window is clean and ready for the next install crew by morning.

Concession closure

A brand leaves a department store. The branded fixtures are dismantled over two nights, the reusable parts stored in our warehouse for a future store, and the rest recycled. The floor is cleaned and the department store receives photos of the empty area.

Pop-up take-down

A pop-up ends on a Sunday. We take it down the same night, store the kit for its next location and hand the space back to the centre on Monday morning.

Timeline

Planning a derig.

  1. When the end date is known. Send us the date, photos or drawings of what comes down, and what should happen to it.
  2. Quote. We confirm the scope, crew, packing and disposal in a fixed written quote.
  3. Before the derig. We agree access with the store or centre, and pick-up times with your carrier if goods go back abroad.
  4. The derig. Everything comes down, is packed, labelled and transported.
  5. After. Photos of the empty space and of the packed goods, plus receipts for disposal if you need them.
Why RetailOps

Why brands choose us for derigs.

There are larger contractors in Denmark, and there are cheaper ones. Brands and agencies choose RetailOps Denmark for derigs because of how the work is run:

  • Our own crew. The people on your job work for us, not for a subcontractor we found the day before.
  • Our own vans and warehouse. Kits, fixtures and materials can be received, stored and delivered by us, from Albertslund, so nothing depends on a third party on the night.
  • Written scope. Every job has a written quote with the scope, the crew size and the time window. What is in the quote is what happens on site.
  • English on site. Your project manager can talk to the crew lead directly in English, at any hour of the night.
  • Photos as proof. Every job ends with photos, so you can sign off without travelling to Denmark.
  • One company behind it. RetailOps Denmark is a business unit of Get It All Service ApS, CVR 36730595, with an office and warehouse in Albertslund and insurance with If Skadeforsikring.
Your quote

What decides the price.

  • How much has to come down, and how it is fixed
  • What is returned, stored or recycled
  • Packing materials and pallets for return shipping
  • Disposal volume and type of waste
  • Working time: daytime, overnight or weekend
  • Repairs and cleaning required after the derig

You get a fixed written quote with a job reference, normally within one working day.
